Henrik Stelzer, otherwise known as FLUORESCENT HEIGHTS, is the man behind the chillingly serene sounds on his debut album “Tourism.” The record comes from Danish label Subsuburban in an edition of 300 on turquoise blue vinyl. Continue reading “Fluorescent Heights – Tourism”

OBN III’s – The One and Only
After an excellent 7″ earlier this year, OBN III’S are back with a brand new record on Tic Tac Totally that takes those ideas and throws them on a larger and grandiose scale, containing epic results that none of us could have ever seen coming. Continue reading “OBN III’s – The One and Only”
Feathers – Hunter’s Moon
Female four-piece Feathers (unintentional alliteration!) hail from my hometown of Brisbane, Australia. Having essentially had three incarnations over their half-decade existence, it has been interesting to witness their evolution. First starting out as a trio, then losing a drummer, picking up a new drummer and a bass-player, the progression of the band is inevitable. Yet as they release new album Hunter’s Moon through ace local label Bon Voyage, Feathers are intent to showcase how far they have come – and as a time capsule highlighting the genesis of the band up to today, the album succeeds admirably. Continue reading “Feathers – Hunter’s Moon”
Easter Vomit – Vs. the Natural History Museum
Our Philadelphia friends at Evil Weevil Records had the pleasure of releasing the debut LP from EASTER VOMIT back in September. Their album sees you through a troubling realm of both lo-fi and noisy arrangements, where the rock n’ roll is hidden somewhere in the trenches. Continue reading “Easter Vomit – Vs. the Natural History Museum”
Kitchen’s Floor – Look Forward to Nothing
Gritty Australian trio KITCHEN’S FLOOR return in 2011 with their sophomore effort “Look Forward to Nothing” on Siltbreeze Records. It’s the follow up to their LP “Loneliness is a Dirty Mattress” from 2009, an album that saw plenty of positive feedback. Continue reading “Kitchen’s Floor – Look Forward to Nothing”
Dead Luke – Meanwhile… In the Midwest
DEAD LUKE comes back in 2011 with his excellent follow up to last years efforts, creating a different beast entirely with a truly refreshing and mystifying blend of both psyched-out rock with bluesy intentions. Continue reading “Dead Luke – Meanwhile… In the Midwest”
Diarrhea Planet – Loose Jewels
“Loose Jewels” is the debut LP from Nashville band DIARRHEA PLANET. Like most make a point to say, they have an unfortunate name, however their music blows every sense of caring straight out of the water. So fuck it. Continue reading “Diarrhea Planet – Loose Jewels”
Far-Out Fangtooth – Pure & Disinterested

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats – Blood Lust
UNCLE ACID AND THE DEADBEATS might be a fairly new name to most people out there. With the way their sophomore LP “Blood Lust” quickly sold out, that statement will only hold true for so much longer. Continue reading “Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats – Blood Lust”
