PREMIER: The Bats Pajamas – “Wrong House”
Fleeting Youth Records in Austin, TX is readying the debut cassette from Toronto-based witch-punk outfit THE BATS PAJAMAS. Aside from their new tape, titled No Hello, the band previously self-released their first full-length and two other EPs since July, 2010.
“Wrong House” is an impeccably scuzzy affair, built with tinny shreds of guitar and muffled vocals that change from troubled howls to blood-curdling screams in a matter of seconds. This all produces a strangely terrifying sound from the trio, who are currently gearing up for a full-fledged tour through Canada, which includes stops at NXNE and Canadian Music Week. On top of that, they’re already recording songs for another whole album.
“Wrong House” comes together with crumbling guitars and a loose rhythm, sounding as grungy, dark and disheveled as punk rock would be after it’s been lost and roaming the streets for months without a home. Guitar hooks offer sharp and spiny angles, coming off blunt and jagged as if they were ripped right out of a piece of sheet metal. Get an earful of their frightening sound right below, then sit tight as Fleeting Youth releases the cassette on May 26th – pre-order it now!
