It’s been awhile since we heard from the folks at Kind Turkey Records, but that probably means they’re just cooking up something new for us, right? Correct! This time we’ve got a new 7″ from TWO TEARS. Continue reading “Two Tears – Eat People 7″”

Brother Gruesome – Morphine Makes You Comfortable 7″
Today we’ve got the second official release from dark-rockers BROTHER GRUESOME, and they’ve broadened their sound a bit for this single. Instead of remaining quiet and hidden in the shadows, they went a bit further and decided to kick up the intensity. This is a much-welcomed decision. Continue reading “Brother Gruesome – Morphine Makes You Comfortable 7″”
Psyclones – Different Thinking People
Here’s something a bit different to kick off the week. If you’ve ever done some crate digging for obscure industrial-pop from the 80’s, then this might be just for you. This brand new LP acts as a compilation, covering only unreleased material from the PSYCLONES. Continue reading “Psyclones – Different Thinking People”
Balkans – Edita V 7″
BALKANS are four dudes who hail from the suburbs of Atlanta. These four dudes have been lifelong friends dating back to their days in elementary school, and now many years later they’re releasing their third official 7″ record together, which leads up to a full length due out in May. Continue reading “Balkans – Edita V 7″”
The Babies – The Babies s/t
2010 saw the first releases from THE BABIES – two equally awesome and charming 7″ records, both crammed with a near five minutes of sun-shining indie pop and dangerously catchy hooks. Now they’re back once again, only this time with a much-needed full length release. Continue reading “The Babies – The Babies s/t”
No Joy – Ghost Blonde
Appropriately coming from the Mexican Summer label is the debut LP from NO JOY. These girls started with a 7″ from the same label, and this collection of songs is a great continuation from where they left off. Continue reading “No Joy – Ghost Blonde”
Various Artists – Faux Discx Split 7″
Coming from the Faux Discx label in Brighton is this split 7″ covering four bands. There’s a song a piece from WOMEN, FAIR OHS, COLD PUMAS and FRIENDO, respectively. There doesn’t seem to be any specific pattern they’re following with the song placement, so let’s take this unique line up for a spin. Continue reading “Various Artists – Faux Discx Split 7″”
Girls Names/ Brilliant Colors – Split 7″
Most recently coming from the Slumberland label (and Tough Love if yr in the UK) is a brand new split 7″ between Ireland’s GIRLS NAMES and San Francisco’s BRILLIANT COLORS. It’s a magical double A-side single featuring a song apiece from each band, and worldwide it’s limited to just 600 copies. Continue reading “Girls Names/ Brilliant Colors – Split 7″”
Brain Idea – The Survival Scrolls
Hey, hopefully everybody’s been having a good holiday week. With Thanksgiving and Black Friday now past us, it looks like things are finally going back to normal. Well, at least until Christmas gets a little closer anyway. We all know how hectic that gets. To finish up the week I’ve got quite an awesome and interesting record here, and I think yr gonna enjoy it very much. Continue reading “Brain Idea – The Survival Scrolls”
His Electro Blue Voice – Animal Verses 7″
Welcome back after the weekend. Hope yours went well!
We’re going to start this week off with a hell of a bang. We’ve got a 7″ from Italy’s own HIS ELECTRO BLUE VOICE, and boy this thing is heavy. Coming from the Bat Shit label back in October, this is one of two releases to come from HEBV during 2010. Their other release came from Holidays Records in Italy, and it’s a 12″ record titled “Wolf/ Worm”. They’ve got a few other releases out there besides these two things as well, and you can check them all out right here. Judging by that, these guys have been quite busy over the past few years, and it shows in their devilishly frightening music.
Two new songs come etched in this 7″ – the A-side is called “Animal Verses” and the B-side is called “Black Veils”. Both songs are equally ferocious and loud, coming at you full throttle with very little breathing room and enough intensity to send you straight to the floor. They take an exceptionally morbid and brooding approach to the music, with enough dark energy and satanic vibes to have you on your knees begging for mercy shortly after listening. There’s a wobbly metronome percussion covering both of the songs that gives them a constantly reverberating feel, almost like the sounds are continually bouncing off the walls in all the directions. The last quality that puts the icing on this devilishly haunting cake would be shouted, hateful vocals. Paired up with resonate bass lines, end-of-the-world sonics, fiery guitars, and an all too tormenting dark energy, HEBV is sure to please even the least gothic of listeners. Please enjoy and don’t forget to snag the 7″ before it’s gone – there’s only 500.
