COOL RUNNINGS deliver their dirty punk rock from down-under in Auckland City, New Zealand. To refresh your memory, the four piece band features members of the Raw Nerves, Diamonds and Dirt, Perfect Hair Forever and Heidi Pasadena.
I Hate It Here is their second EP, bringing us five new tracks of crunchy punk rock. “Stoned Tonite” opens things with a fuzzy snarl and crashing percussion, leading us right toward a glowing guitar solo. It reveals a noisy, almost grungy edge in their sound, but compared to their previous release, this stuff is much more cleaned and polished. “29 Palms” is fueled by a melodic beam of searing chords, swallowing the whole track with a layer of sizzling guitars. “White Girls” adds a punchy punk flavor to the mix, while EP closer “John Candy” slows it all down with a staggering psych-fueled burner. Keep an eye out for their upcoming 7″ on 1:12 Records and get ready to catch them at Gonerfest 11 in Memphis!
