The Limiñanas – (I’ve Got) Trouble in Mind 7″

Here is a brand new 7″ from THE LIMIÑANAS for their recent mini-tour across the United States, released by the one and only Trouble in Mind Records out of Chicago in an edition of 500. They’re not in the US any longer, but their 7″ is still available!

Coincidentally enough, the opener “(I’ve Got) Trouble in Mind” obviously pays respects to their label, but there doesn’t seem to be any correlation at all – it’s just simply the name of the song. It’s driven by a perpetually beating jangle paired with both a throbbing and nasally bass line – so clearly this is The Limiñanas – not to mention the irresistible desire to get up and grove with such an inviting song. Twangy guitars and an overall positive spirit keep the good vibes flowing out of this truly awesome jammer until the very last note.

On the flip, “Je m’en Vais” (translated to “I’m Going”) immediately reveals a broken down synth hook and more dry, twangy, harp-like guitars (?) with a much more mysterious tone than the previous. Delicately whispered vocals sound careful and breathy, as if they don’t want to wake someone sleeping in the next room over. There is without a doubt a much stranger vibe to be detected in this song. It’s still their infectious blend of ye-ye psych, only with an extra helping of uncertainty to instill some puzzlement in the listener.
