After months of preparation and non-stop touring, THE MAD DOCTORS of Brooklyn, NY have their debut LP ready for the masses. SNAKE OIL SUPERSCIENCE comes released by their own imprint King Pizza Records and is limited to 500 copies on virgin black vinyl.
The album showcases the band’s feverish take on sewer-flavored garage rock, and the results are downright dirty. Brimming with eight fresh tracks of their infectious twang, the Docs cook up a sound that lands between blues, garage, surf, psych and punk rock. Guitars roar with an electrified snarl, coming at you with raunchy hook after hook. They’re sharp and spiny in “Braindead Boogie” and “Boogeyman,” creating a groovy whirlwind that puts you in a psychedelic trance. They bring the boil to a simmer in the grungy “Swamp Taco,” driven by a fiery guitar onslaught that swallows you in a relentless black hole. Dr. Seth Applebaum wails behind the microphone, providing an extra touch of spice and soul to their flavorful concoction of rock. Tracks are held together by radio-quality audio clips that the band self-recorded at home to avoid copyright dilemmas when pressing the records. They’re bringing their monstrous sound on the road with them this Fall, touring up and down the east coast and the midwest. The tour begins just four days from now (10/10) at the one and only Don Pedro’s in Brooklyn, NY. They’re in Philadelphia the following night (10/11), joining COLD FOAMERS for their LP release show at Chill Collins Art Space.
