Song of the Day #51: Ross de Chene Hurricanes – “Personality Disorder”

Based in Melbourne, Australia, ROSS DE CHENE HURRICANES (ross-duh-shane-hurrah-caynes) are preparing to release their debut LP. The album comes hot off the heels of their previously self-released 7″ The Jailbird, which boasted a fuzzy mixture of punk, psych and pop. “Personality Disorder” is the lead single from their upcoming album, which channels all those genres into one giant thud. Jagged guitars and scuzzy vocals charge at a steady pace, held together by pounding percussion and a twangy, can-opening guitar solo. There’s a thin layer of kaleidoscopic synth waves spread over the track, wrapping things up in one sweeping motion.
