Formed in July of 2013, PORNO MAGS is a 4-piece band from Chicago, IL. They self-describe their single Get On Top as rock and roll/ proto punk, leaving us with two crunchy tracks of mid-tempo garage.
The two songs included on their latest single were recorded live at the Mags lair this past November. Each track has it’s own special edge, leaving us with two wholesome cuts of polished garage rock built with jagged guitars. It’s almost contradictory in that way, as guitars themselves sound grainy and dirty even though the songs are neat and tidy altogether. “Get On Top” is led by a nasty guitar twang, filled out by a tight rhythm section that holds it all together. Frontman Ian Galloway howls away in his squealing tone, leading us into an aggressive finale with some raunchy guitar soloing. “Early Bird” picks up with a little added speed, led by a searing guitar buzz that immediately opens the track. Reverberated guitar chords wash over the throbbing bass lines, adding a concentrated, surfed-up flare to the B-side track. See what you think by checking our their single right below!
