“Fuck it dog, life’s a risk” – there’s not an acronym that could possibly fit better for FIDLAR. Hailing from LA, these five scoundrels create snotty punk revolving around extreme sports like skating and drinking and the end result couldn’t be more persuading and appropriate for their attitude.
In other words, I guess you could say these are the anthems of your every day college-life slacker. Consisting of being a cheap fuck that’s entirely broke, yet still having the money to afford weed to get stoned every morning before going to skate (or surf) the day away – yeah, that sounds about right. The hardest part though is trying to suppress the thoughts of such a glorious life that you’re not even living – because let’s be serious, we’d all love to drop everything and go sit on a beach all day whether we can surf or not.
However these four punk driven jams are drenched with attitude and cheap beer, each taking slightly different forms as the single plays out. Opener “Wake Bake Skate” is a definite punk rager, complete with aggressive vocals and abrasive hooks that will punch a hole through your chest, while “Oh” takes the straight-forward intensity down a notch with a cleaner complexion, yet the guitars still sound vigorous and crunchy to keep the staggering vibes alive. On the B-side you’ll find two more – “Wait for the Man” which takes on the most obvious pop-punk flares of the single, and “Max Can’t Surf”, the power chord driven surf punk jam about everybody’s favorite slacker. Hear a couple of these tracks below, and as always, don’t forget to snag this one from the White Iris store before it’s too late.
