Vancouver’s own NEEDLES//PINS have been dropping records left and right, most recently with an LP on Mammoth Cave and this new 7″ titled Getting On Home from La Ti Da Records.
Needles//Pins are making the rounds and it’s really no surprise why. It all comes down to their catchy and memorable garage rock spirit, which has a tight and vibrant power-pop edge that drives songs with an invigorating energy. Lead singer Adam Ess guides us through the pulsing rage with his raspy, snarling vocals, fitting in perfectly to the mix and giving these songs their unsettling qualities. “Getting On Home” starts the 7″ with it’s crunchy, trashy guitars, leading us through a sharp and jangly garage-punk beat down that’s worthy of many spins. On the B-side, “Picture My Face” is driven by a poppy guitar hook and plenty of optimistic energy, leaving us with just one more undeniably catchy garage pop anthem to sink your teeth into. These two songs are excellently constructed and brimming with energy, so if their LP on Mammoth Cave sticks to that formula, you might want to get on that.
