Coming from the Kill Rock Stars imprint we have a delightfully new 7″ from Portland’s own HORSE FEATHERS today. This 7″ was just put out at the beginning of the month, and it’s significance comes along with an interesting story, told best by the people at Kill Rock Stars.
Horse Feathers were on tour for their third album “Thistled Spring” for most of 2010. At their record release show (sometime in April) in their hometown of Portland, OR, Horse Feathers closed their set that night with a cover of Nirvana’s “Drain You”, to which they did such a fantastic job that people across town were still talking about it days after it had happened. Instead of just letting those people refer to their memories, Kill Rock Stars decided it was no question – they sent Horse Feathers into the studio to put the sensational cover to vinyl. Not long after came this 7″ we have here, with the Nirvana cover on the A-side, and a completely original track on the B-side called “Bonnet of Briars”. You can hear both of the folky, orchestral, finger picking guitar tracks right below, with all of the subtle and innocent goodness that comes along with them.
PS – Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
