They sure kept us waiting a long ass time, but CRYSTAL STILTS sophomore effort finally hit shelves this month thanks to the Slumberland folk. It takes a few runs through, but this stuff manages to grow on you in a different way than “Alight of Night”. Continue reading “Crystal Stilts – In Love With Oblivion”

Krang – Speed of Tent 7″
KRANG is made up of four dudes from Edmonton. Their combination of musical talents together creates a psychedelic sweat lodge of insanity that will most certainly tear you a brand new asshole. Continue reading “Krang – Speed of Tent 7″”
Natural Child – 1971
I wonder if they wanted to release the album on 4/20 on purpose? Something inside tells me that’s not as far-fetched as it sounds. This is the debut full length from NATURAL CHILD, and it follows along perfectly with their motto, “Let the good times roll.” Continue reading “Natural Child – 1971”
Puffy Areolas/ Purling Hiss – Split 12″ EP
You all know what is exactly one week from today, right? The fourth annual RECORD STORE DAY! This release here is easily going to be the most mind-bending exclusive for RSD, featuring two psychedelic freak shows PUFFY AREOLAS and Philadelphia’s own PURLING HISS on the same sleeve. Continue reading “Puffy Areolas/ Purling Hiss – Split 12″ EP”
Snake Flower 2 – Memory Castle 7″
SNAKE FLOWER 2 is led my Matthew Melton of Bare Wires, and this single here is apparently their last. While I can’t really confirm that, you can at least let this single take you on a psyched-out and wild ride through frantic and focused garage-pop. Continue reading “Snake Flower 2 – Memory Castle 7″”
The UV Race – Acid Trip 7″
Hailing from Melbourne in Australia is the UV RACE, who just dropped a brand new full length via In the Red Records. This right here is their fourth official single, packed with mind-altering psych mutations from the Sweet Rot label out of Vancouver. Continue reading “The UV Race – Acid Trip 7″”
The Holydrug Couple – Ancient Land EP
We’ve covered a handful of releases from the Sacred Bones camp recently, and here’s one more you can add to the list. Hailing from Chile, the HOLYDRUG COUPLE just released their debut EP in the new year, and this is just more proof that there’s plenty to obsess over from the mysterious Chilean underground. Continue reading “The Holydrug Couple – Ancient Land EP”
Cosmonauts – Cosmonauts
Hailing from Orange County, California is COSMONAUTS. These rowdy bros have just released their self-titled album on vinyl for the first time thanks to Permanent Records – beforehand you could only find it on cassette via Burger Records. Now let’s get to it. Continue reading “Cosmonauts – Cosmonauts”
Song of the Day #6
How does underground Chilean psych-rock sound to you? If you don’t have to think twice then please continue reading. We’ve definitely been seeing a bunch of this stuff lately (see Sacred Bones) and LA HELL GANG are right there in the forefront mix. They released a full length album from Blow Your Mind Records in September, and it’s overflowing with eyebrow singeing garage-psych that’s bound to leave you drooling with your jaw on the floor, probably because you’re too high to comprehend it all. Listed on their Myspace, some of their influences are certainly not a surprise in the least bit. In fact, names like J. Spaceman, “Stones” and “Jimi” should only intrigue you to listen that much more, so please do so with this cut from the album below.

The Dodos – No Color
The Dodos took a year off in-between their last two albums and made a few changes in the meantime. The vibraphonist is no longer part of the mix, although he still lends his talents to the album, but the Dodos went back to their original spastic formula this time around. Continue reading “The Dodos – No Color”
