Tranzmitors – You Get Around 7″

To be honest, before coming across this 7″ I had never heard of these guys. Before even finishing the 7″ on it’s first time around, it was already a done deal. Maybe that’s because of the enthusiastic and grandiose pop vibes, or just how the record is overflowing with material that is sure to crack a smile on any face.

The name of the game here is power-pop, and DAMN is it catchy. Included on this 7″ are two hard-hitting pop tracks coming at you full force with an arsenal of instruments and ecstatic energy. If the guitar work isn’t enough to catch your attention, maybe it’s the fact that lead singer Jeff McCloy at time reminds me of Jarvis Cocker. I realize that’s a bold statement, but I first thought it during the track “You Get Around”, so maybe you should check that one out to see what you think as well.

On the flip side, “It’s Not Your Call”, is when the guitar really shows what it has to offer. Stick around until the final minute of the track for a sudden jaw-dropping guitar freak out complemented by relentless drumming and sharp power chords. There’s even a swingin’ vibe worked into the track as they totally tear shit up right before your very ears. Then all the sudden it all settles back down again to bring the song to it’s end, like nothing had ever even happened. Well something did happen, and chances are you’re not going to forget it. These tracks definitely have that power to bury themselves inside your brain, so proceed with caution if you tend to become addicted to music. Snag one of these from the good folks at Dirtnap before they’re all gone – the first 200 come on red vinyl!
