Women in Prison – Strange Waves 7″

Add another band to the list that’s awesome and comes from Texas (which is where we should all be at some point this week). WOMEN IN PRISON just released their debut 7″ from Hozac Records, and it’s a face-beating kick in the ass of raging punk that will throw you down and continue to kick you while you’re helplessly on the ground.

The worst part is, these guys don’t even seem like the type that would help you back up after the little scrap was over. With a Facebook page including posts as vulgar and hilarious as “Laying down another fucking 7″ today. Rip your brains out and piss in your sister’s mouth,” you gotta wonder what these guys are like. The music on their new Hozac 7″ might help answer that, as well as the gold edition cover seen on that page that came with first 200 copies of the record. Sure, it’s crude to say the least, but after hearing the music and taking a few moments to find out what these guys are all about, it’s only helps illustrate their persona.

These three new songs have one sole purpose on this planet, and that’s to make your ears bleed. The raging and filthy punk will leave a sour aftertaste, which stems from their relentless and equally repulsive approach. Metallic and scratchy guitar hooks are enough to give you a bloody headache if you were exposed to it for long enough, while lead singer John Bondage rabidly growls away through the dense and dirty guitar scuzz with his fist-in-air chanting. The folks at Hozac seem to love this stuff – they’re calling it “real punk” – now it’s time to see if you agree. Hear for yourself right below, and keep an eye out for these guys because they have a full length due out on Hozac as well.
