Coming out at the very beginning of March is the brand new full length effort from San Francisco’s PAPERCUTS. The album is titled “Fading Parade”, and you’ll find the A-side of this single on the official tracklist.
Issued by the Sub Pop label, this will be the bands fifth full length album to date, but their first official release from Sub Pop. Right now, this 7″ is the closest you can get to hearing anything from the new record. They ensured our curiosity by including a B-side which will not appear on the official tracklist of “Fading Parade”, and that song is called “Thoughts on Hell”. Both of these luscious tracks could have easily qualified as the A-side of this single, but “Do What You Will” certainly stands out over the rest.
Both sides follow a similar heavenly approach, both with rich and textured layers of elaborate goodness that will surely leave you pondering about the new full length. Lush, orchestral qualities fill out both of these slow and gentle songs, but the way they still manage to be huge and empowering is the stunning part. They’re both very classy and thought-out, and you can feel the warmth radiating off the songs almost as if you were sitting right beside a roaring fire while listening. The dreamy haze is surely palpable, almost like you could take a deep breath and feel it go through your nose and ultimately fill up your lungs with fantastic warming vibes.
If dreamy, textured pop songs tend to be your sort of thing, then this single (and eventually “Fading Parade”) sound like they’re going to be high up on your list of preferred music towards the end of the year. Sure – that’s still extremely far off from now, but you know that it will be here before you know it. Check out both sides of the 7″ right below, and you can download the A-side right from Sub Pop.
