CQ Records in Austin is bringing us the new 7″ single from Tulsa, Oklahoma-based 4-piece BRONCHO. It’s On follows their LP from 2011, combining fuzzy garage rock and punk on a 7″ limited to just 300 pieces.
A little fact about this gem is that “It’s On” originally surfaced on the closing credits of the HBO series premier of Girls in January. B-side track “Kurt” was previously unreleased, however both combine for a groggy take on grainy garage punk. The fact this music is also highly invigorating has their sound contradicting itself, citing dreary vocals paired with jagged shocks of guitars. Ryan Lindsey hangs his head as he croons, dripping with attitude in the murky chants on “Kurt.” Guitars are dense with fuzz and reverb, sounding sharp to the touch and backed by swollen bass lines. There’s an anthemic quality hidden under the ravaging fuzz in either track, both of which should ultimately lead to the band’s sophomore album. More details coming later this year, sit tight!
