Bad Vibrations – Under Pressure 7″

Dating back to the summer of 2009 is when BAD VIBRATIONS were officially born. They’re a trashy punk-rock power trio hailing from Halifax in Nova Scotia, and this 7″ is their second release to date, coming from the mysterious Sewercide Records label.

Bad Vibrations saw their first release unleashed to the world earlier this year, and it’s a self-titled EP that you can check it out on their Bandcamp. With a name like “Bad Vibrations”, you might guess that they’re hinting at a darker tone in their music. If you did, then you were right on the money. These four songs included on their 7″ have that grungy lo-fi coating, but at the same time they bring an unsettling and deathly vibe along with the grit. You can hear the stressful strain in the music as they plow through with jagged guitar licks and moody sounding vocals.

I thought the song “Pressure” best covered all of these elements in their music. About three-quarters of the song has that heavy, plowing attitude, but they suddenly slow it all down for an even trashier feel a bit before the two minute mark. Suddenly an eyebrow-searing guitar comes into play to totally dismantle everything, over top of throbbing bass lines and crashing drums. Hear it right below. Not sure where you can buy this one – sorry!
