Traps, PS – Prove It to You 7″

Traps, PS hail from Los Angeles, California. This is their debut four song 7″ from Papermade Music, and it was recorded and mixed over three short days at the original Grain Studios. Last we heard from Papermade it was quite good, so let’s see what they have for us this time around.

These guys play an unusual strain of garage-pop that has a noticeably quirky twist. There’s a fast, frantic energy in each of the songs, mainly coming from the jangly guitars and raspy, freakish vocals that dominate each song. Snappy bass lines and wild drumming keep the rhythm as they plow through these four songs, and it all ends before you even hit the seven minute mark. The guitar playing style is pretty unique as well, usually being quick and sharp, at times even bringing a wholesome noisy quality to the table that engulfs everything else. These short songs have all the potential in the world to bury themselves in your brain and chill there for a long time, so snag this 7″ while you still can. For a flat rate of just $5 (including shipping!), it really doesn’t get any cheaper than that.

  1. This is sick! The song’s pithy vocals that spew out quickly, and coercive drumming seem like they’re trying to get their ideas out fast, and get right to the point. I mean this as a good thing! When the guitar first comes in, it makes me think of when you take photos at night of lights, but you move the camera and they get all blurry and look like cool neon squiggly lines. If ya know what I mean. Consider this purchased!
