Traps, PS – Pure Truth 7″ EP

traps ps pure truth 7 ep papermade music 2014

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from TRAPS, PS. Pure Truth is their second 7″ for Papermade Music, following their first from the label in 2010. This 7″ includes a new batch of angular post-punk, picking up right where they left off.

Thinking back to their debut from 2010, the band continues to do what they do best. They thoughtfully released an EP between both of their singles, which continued the band’s streak of frantic punk rock. Pure Truth follows suit, housing four new tracks loaded with jagged guitar squeals, angular rhythms and reverberating vocals.

These songs come with a wonky twist, evidenced in a whirlwind track like “Ritual Gifts.” The track is driven by a throbbing bass line, which paves the way for a wave of scratchy guitar chords. It’s frenzied and relentless, overflowing with a gritty beam of guitar savagery. It’s barely a minute long, but it hits with maximum impact. It all starts with the buzzy opener in “Leaders and Greeters,” which comes with a video counterpart displaying a daring rescue mission. You’re not going to want to miss it, so get watching right below. If that’s got you hooked, go ahead and snag the vinyl – it’s only $5.
