Cheap Time – Goodbye Age 7″

cheap time goodbye age 7 total punk 2013

Round two of the latest batch of Total Punk Records is this 7″ from Nashville rock n roll crew CHEAP TIME. They dropped their third album Wallpaper Music last year on In The Red and this 7″ looks to be at least their eighth.

“Goodbye Age” unfolds with a throbbing bass line and a gritty guitar, followed by Jeff Novak’s hateful scowl. These three elements combine into a satisfyingly sleazy punk sound, unleashing waves of snarling guitar heat, not to mention timely use of the cowbell. The guitars squeal away in the chanted choruses, boasting melodic hooks that are both sharp and fun. The track is constantly enveloped by this savage guitar heat, making this A-side hot to the touch. B-side “Soon Over Soon” kicks off with a scratchy guitar and another trembling bass line, eventually revealing Modern Lover-esque organs for an anthemic chorus. Novak spits his slurred words over the grainy guitars, creating a hook that will be stuck in your head for hours. Proceed with caution as you listen below!
