Did somebody say crude and minimal records? That’s right! Goodbye Boozy is slingin’ out another fresh set of 7″ records from Italy, starting with the crunchy and blown-out stompers on the debut 7″ from Berlin-based BIKES.
This 7″ is called Ocean Penis. Once you soak that in we can move on to the good stuff. These Berlin scoundrels come bearing this brand new single, marking their second official release after a 12″ on Bachelor Records last year. Their 7″ is right up the usual Goodbye Boozy alley, cramming two shoddy tracks onto one side of a piece of black wax. Lead singer (whose name I cannot track down) croons in his scuzzy and concentrated tone, clawing through shredded guitar chords that make up the bubbly opener “Ocean Penis.” The track has a slightly bluesy edge to it, burdened by sharp-edged guitar shards that reverberate out from a crowded hallway. B-side “Can’t Wait” picks up the pace with a propulsive, punk-inflected spirit, barging on through with chanted vocals for a minute-and-a-half blazer that stops at nothing. As if you had to guess, you’re not going to want to miss these tracks. Check both sides of the 7″ below for an invigorating start to your day.
