Back in April Hozac Records released a 7″ from Sydney-based STRAIGHT ARROWS in their Hookup Klub 7″ series. Never Enough is their first since their 7″ on Goodbye Boozy in 2012, continuing their scrappy strand of punk rock.
Since this was part of the Hookup Klub series, you probably only gripped this 7″ if you’re a subscriber. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t get your hands on this thing otherwise – see here. “Never Enough” blows this 7″ wide open. It quickly shoves crusty guitars down our throats, then they cut you open from the inside out. Suddenly you’re spewing out a splitting, metallic crunch that will have you seeing red as they blow the doors clean of the hinges. They slow the pace to a staggering beatdown, fronted by squealing lead guitars against a destructive rhythm for a trashy finale. B-side “Can’t Stand It” unravels with a tigher (yet still sloppy) explosion, falling somewhere at the exact mid-point between pop and punk. It’s positive energy screams pop, while it’s jagged and agressive nature brings the punk into the picture. Either way, you’re not going to want to miss out on this one. Listen to both sides of the 7″ right below.
