Since their first 7″ on Trouble in Mind, FUZZ have added bassist Roland Cosio to the lineup. The new trio dropped their second 7″ Sleigh Ride on In the Red Recordings back in April, which should lead to more down the line.
Following right from where they left off with This Time I Got a Reason, these sludgy punks are back for round two. Sleigh Ride sees the trio continuing their scuzzy proto-metal, delivering two new doom-driven psych-outs that will flatten you to pieces. “Sleigh Ride” opens this monstrosity with some head-splitting guitar fuzz, bursting at the seams with Ty Segall’s grainy, blown-out scowl and Cosio’s deep bass throbs. Charles Mootheart’s hair-raising guitar work follows in their wake, coming along with an absolutely fried complexion while revealing some menacing hooks. It all suffers a severe spike in speed early on, setting us up for total destruction.
Flipping over to the B-side puts us right in the middle of the sinister vibes of “You Won’t See Me.” We’re led though the disastrous onslaught with some sneering guitars, coming on both soft and heavy for a balanced attack. They creep and glint with caution, sending us through the looming, downward spiral whenever they snap out of the hypnotizing hook. Listen to these tracks below and you won’t be sorry. Be sure to keep an eye on these guys because there’s bound to more, it’s just a matter of time.
