Their Only Dreams – Calculator in the Sky 7″

One man band THEIR ONLY DREAMS is fronted by David Lyudmirsky. Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, White Iris Records just dropped his debut 7″ Calculator in the Sky in November.

If you’re not familiar, take a minute to read this short background check on Lyudmirsky. It’s an interesting story to say the least and it helps paint a picture for where this music is coming from. B-side “Adult Contemporary Man” is literally dripping with haze, exposing jangly percussion, haunting backing vocals and slippery wet guitars that helps bring a good helping of lysergic psych into the picture. Lyudmirsky croons in his dreary tone about life in Los Angeles, scattered through creaky effects and plucked guitars as the track drags on. A-side “Calculator in the Sky” follows a different formula completely. It’s a fun and much more upbeat track despite the noisy crunch of guitars and fizzy electronic textures. The subtle harshness of the noise contradicts the bubbly pop vibes within, making for an interesting balance in the mood as it all unfolds.
