By now there’s no denying that THE PEOPLE’S TEMPLE are one of the best at what they do. Their latest efforts on Hozac Records, Looters Game, proves that with a remarkably lysergic affair.
The single begins with the groovy “Looters Game,” immediately reminding us how easy it is to love this band and their sound. As always, we get those crooning, passionate vocals, not to mention the stomping, bluesy jangle that drives this invigorating song. The track wraps up in just over two minutes, sealing it up toward the end with a twangy, mangled guitar solo. The B-side “Highs and Lows” trades in that peppy energy from before for a lazy, dazed-out psych burner. There’s a constant, droning fuzz that envelopes the track, occasionally revealing buzzy synth waves, pounding snare drums and grainy guitars for a strung out mixture. These two songs differ so greatly you might think we’re talking about two different bands, but that just goes to show what this (double) brotherly band is capable of.
There’s no telling now, but hopefully this single will lead up to something bigger in the future. Nothing wrong with some wishful thinking! Now check these two tracks below!
