Big Surr – Baked + Bruised 7″

BIG SURR is a band made up of five beach babes from Nashville, TN. Their 7″ Baked + Bruised recently dropped via Infinity Cat Records in their Econoline 7″ series.

The beach vibes are abound as far as this 7″ is concerned. Big Surr churn out three new songs comprised of their frothy beach pop, which creates a warming and heavy shoegaze sound that will have no trouble swallowing you whole in one big bite. This becomes clear in “Cosine Tangent,” a song that literally sounds like it’s in slow-motion. This drawn-out track employs the use of soft, glinting guitars, which creates the feeling that you’re squinting while walking outside in the beating hot sun and simultaneously dragging your feet across the floor. The song bursts open at the seams a bit toward the end with a head-splitting guitar shrill, signaling the finale of this epic beachgaze track with a crunchy and memorable solo.

By this point it’s probably safe to say that the atmosphere of these songs is the kind of environment that you would want to live in. The same goes for the following two songs, which instead turn out to be much more upbeat and poppy than “Cosine Tangent.” Hear for yourself right now with “Cicada Summer” – watch these videos!
