Batshit noise-punk trio PSYCHIC BLOOD finished the digital version of their upcoming 7″, who together hail from Holyoke, Massachusetts and are now looking for a label to release the material.
These dark and dense recordings sound as scratchy and cavernous as they could possibly be and that is no exaggeration. The bloodthirsty vocals echo off the walls of a tiny room and combine with the hectic instrumentals for a relentless wall of noisy racket that swallows everything whole. The endless static at the core plagues the song with its terrorizing grit for the duration of the 7″, forcing us to say that “Strain” is a beyond accurate title for such a track.
On the other side, “Drudgefest” seems to follow a similar complexion. Once again the vocals are entirely unintelligible, while metallic and crunchy guitars thrust themselves into the uncompromising madness and refuse to settle down. The structure of these furious noise onslaughts doesn’t seem to follow any obvious patterns, as both songs seem to flail all over the place from one punishingly sloppy idea to the next. Knowing this, it definitely makes for an interesting and wild listen whether or not you can stay on pace with them or if you get lost in the bruising frenzy. Most probably fall victim to the latter. If you didn’t figure it out already, definitely proceed with caution here – this shit proves to be undoubtedly lethal. Considering their live show, that is probably an entirely different and ear-destroying experience.
