Here is another from the folks at Double Phantom Records, this time from the soft and sweet MOOD RINGS out of Atlanta, Georgia. This is their debut 7″, just in time for their tour with labelmates Carnivores.
For their debut, Mood Rings graced us with their featherweight and lush dream pop anthems, scattered with glistening guitars and a perpetual haze that sits over top of the vocals and just about everything else. “Promise Me Eternity” is a slow paced and mood lifting opener, somehow alleviating any pain as everything gradually dissolves away in the warming bliss. B-side “Exorcised Painting” is half the length of the first track, yet it’s a considerably more upbeat and poised, with pounding percussion and a squealing, whirlwind of a guitar lead that evokes a dizzy feeling. As it plays out, you almost get the vibe that everything is soaked with water, ultimately producing a wet feeling as these songs wrap up.
