Spider Fever – Whatcha Gonna Do? 7″

As always, Hozac Records is churning out the goods. This brand new SPIDER FEVER 7″ is certainly no exception, and it’s a hell of a debut from these raw and rowdy Cali-punks who just don’t seem to care.

Not sure if anybody has been keeping up with the news at Hozac lately, but their last batch of 7″ records is no joke. Part of that batch was this rager from Spider Fever, covering two brand new songs that are equally energetic and over-the-top as the last. Epic guitar work is absolutely obliterated in face-beating punk action as these guys press on without any consideration but for the music itself (and of course their drunken party girl). B-side “Party Girl” showcases these shredded guitars quite well between the fist-in-air anthem of the band chanting “PARTY GIRL!”, which you could easily imagine hearing at your next college banger – but chances are that will (sadly) never happen. Maybe if somebody was daring enough to put a song like this on at their next party, that might change.

On the A-side, “Whatcha Gonna Do?” is about as raw as it gets, overflowing with palpable and invigorating anger. Apathetic vocals about kids begging for change? What the hell are you gonna do about that? If you come up with an answer, you let Spider Fever know, but for some reason we still don’t think they’re going to care. The violent guitars reflect this care-free attitude, which by the end of the 7″ is blatantly obvious. Unfortunately for you and I, this single barely lasts past four minutes – this angers and infuriates us. When it’s all said and done, all we know is we want more Spider Fever. Bring that shit on, and fast!
