Slow Animal – theFUNsun 7″

Giving New Jersey even more hope, there’s this fuzzy garage-pop duo known as SLOW ANIMAL. This is their debut 7″ that was released over the past summer from Jaxart Records. It’s a highly promising release including both a childish spirit and noisy, hyperactive energy.

The friendly duo of members Alexander and Daniel make up Slow Animal, and together these guys bring a wildly uncontrollable energy to the table. The guitars and vocals are drowned in endless layers of fuzzy and glistening reverb, almost like they’re performing out in their very own “FUNsun” as the light rays reflect right off their soundwaves. The excited drumming in “theFUNsun” is enough to make your head spin as it happens so fast, and at the same time frivolous howls of joy complement the hectic qualities as one of the two members continues to effortlessly howl away. B-side “Saturday Morning” starts off from a familiar position, again coming drenched in crunchy reverb with fiery lead guitar licks and apathetic lyrics about not wanting to change the world. Let us know how that works out for ya!

At the moment it’s not clear what Slow Animal might have for us as we get further into 2011, but if it’s anything like these songs below, it’s bound to be killer. Check out both sides of the 7″ right here, and hurry up and snag their 7″ before it’s gone, because there’s only 250 of them pressed, and “once they’re gone, they’re gone!” Don’t say we didn’t warn ya!

  1. Not quite sure Jersey needs much hope (with the exception of those fools pretending to be Jerseyans but really being Long/Staten Islanders. We both know who I’m referring to)…but this band is pretty sick! Add them to the list I’ve entitled “Why New Jersey Is The Greatest Place!”

  2. Haha I knew what you meant. Just had to rep. the best state in the union, you see. But seriously, I downloaded that EP and this “theFUNsun” single, and they are pretty legit. I can’t seem to find what part of NJ they’re from, though.
