Weekend Megapost w/ Creepoid, Young Adults (08/19-08/20)

Over this past weekend I had the privilege of traveling up north with Philadelphia’s own grunge-rockers CREEPOID. Two stops were made on this part of their short tour, which (for Creepoid) began in Baltimore on August 16th. The following night they played Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia and then set out on the road Friday the 19th. The first stop was in Brooklyn, NY at Lulu’s, where they played with Michigan tour-mates SHORES and Brooklynite FLETCHER C. JOHNSON. It was Fletcher’s birthday celebration which only meant good times and friendly vibes, which is exactly how the night went down – a combination of that and endless free pizza.

Fletcher C. Johnson -

A near seven minute jammer from Fletcher’s set in Lulu’s, the folky goodness has an especially twangy charm to it. Shortly after the set, Fletcher proceeded to celebrate his birthday with a round of shots. Awesome.

After an excellent night in Brooklyn, the next stop to be made was at Great Scott in Allston, MA where QUILTY and YOUNG ADULTS joined the action. Of course Shores and Creepoid were still present as well, who altogether made up quite a solid line up at Great Scott that night.

Shores – One Palm Sunday

Shores began the night with their subtle-to-humongous post-rock sound, garnished with an endless layer of atmospheric haze that envelopes their songs (something that becomes much more obvious in their recordings). Their debut album, “Coup de Grace” was put out by No Idea last October and we can only hope they’ll have more for us down the road. Catch another song from the Shores set in Allston – it’s a brand new song entitled “To Volstead” from their upcoming LP on No Idea.

Creepoid – Enabler

As always, Creepoid managed to put everybody in attendance on their asses. This video here is complete justification of that statement, yet somehow simple “justification” just doesn’t seem good enough anymore. These guys only continue to get better to the point where it’s beginning to be scary. How could you not leave Great Scott psyched as fuck after hearing something this terrifying? Watch this video as it enters certain destruction as the chaotic ending will leave a searing mark in anybodies mind. You have been warned.

Young Adults – Impression

Young Adults took the stage last and got the crowd moving with their shoegaze-infused punk rock. Seeing these dudes was long overdue considering what we thought about their debut album “Black Hole” from last year. These guys positively rock with optimistic vibes and that’s something that needs to be embraced.

Young Adults – Wasting Time

“Wasting Time” was their last song before a quick encore as the end of another accomplished night approached. The rest of the songs from their set can be found right here on our YouTube Channel, including “Life Under Review” and a few others. You don’t want to miss’em!
